Where Legendary Outlaw Wyatt Earp Once Played
Originally established as a port in the 1800s and home to three gambling halls owned by the legendary outlaw Wyatt Earp, the Gaslamp Quarter has been undergoing a renaissance since 1974 and has since transformed into San Diego's premier shopping, dining and entertainment district. The Gaslamp Quarter is 21 blocks of sidewalk cafés and open-air restaurants, jazz clubs, late night dancing, resident artists and micro breweries. There is always something to do in this trendy part of town where new nightclubs, restaurants and cafés seem to pop up weekly. Many take advantage of San Diego’s year-round mild temperatures by offering al fresco seating that includes people-watching at no additional charge. "The Historic Heart of San Diego," as it is known, is in Downtown, just a short walk from the Convention Center and PETCO Park.
